Narratives uses an Apple-hosted asset pack for its on-device language model. The app may finish installing while Apple downloads the model separately. Timing depends on the device and network connection.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Find Local AI.
  3. Keep the app open and connected until the model is ready.
Does Narratives need the internet?

Core conversations and local memory work offline after the model is available. Online tools connect only for an explicit request, such as weather, web search, or reading a webpage.

  1. Download the model once.
  2. Continue private conversations offline.
  3. Use the network only for an online tool you request.
