Information processed on your device
Depending on the features you use, Narratives may process and store the following information locally:
- Text conversations and AI responses.
- Voice recordings and transcriptions.
- Photos or images you attach or capture.
- Conversation summaries, topics, and daily overview cards.
- Facts and preferences you choose to keep in saved memory.
- Schedules, reminders, check-ins, and notification preferences.
- App settings, locally generated diagnostics, and exported backups.
This information is stored in the app’s local container. The language model runs on your device. Narratives does not upload your conversation history to a developer-operated AI server.
Optional network features
When you explicitly use an online tool, or enable a scheduled event that uses one, Narratives sends only the information needed to complete that request to the relevant service. This may include:
- A location or place name to Apple WeatherKit or Open-Meteo.
- A search term to DuckDuckGo.
- A search term to Wikimedia services.
- A webpage address to the requested website.
- Requests needed to download the on-device model and app assets from Apple.
These requests can expose standard network information, including an IP address, to the receiving service. External services apply their own terms and privacy policies. Narratives does not proxy these requests, receive a copy, sell personal data, or build advertising profiles.
Device permissions
- Microphone — to record voice messages.
- Camera — to capture a photo for a conversation.
- Photos — to save a captured photo when requested.
- Location — to provide local weather when requested.
- Notifications — to deliver reminders, events, and optional check-ins.
Permissions can be changed at any time in iOS Settings.
Tracking, advertising, and analytics
Narratives does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs. The developer does not sell personal information collected through the app.
Support requests
The support form on this website is optional and separate from the app. If you submit it, the developer receives the message, reply contact, device details you choose to provide, and an optional diagnostic file. Submissions are kept in private server storage for up to 30 days and are used only to answer and diagnose the request. Review attachments and remove information you do not want to share before sending.
Your controls and retention
You can review saved memory, manage app features, and remove local content from Settings. Local data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app.
Children’s privacy
Narratives is not designed to collect children’s personal information through a developer-operated service. Because the app accepts free-form input, parents or guardians should supervise use where appropriate.
Changes and contact
This policy may change as Narratives evolves. The effective date identifies the latest revision. For privacy questions, use the private support form and include only the minimum information needed.
